Coding with Robots

Wow! this week we had the chance to make robots move. They were called Beebot and Dash.
We were able to make instructions on an I pad and then watch the robot move around. I have drawn a picture of my robot and have written a story about it.

Pet Day 2017

Today I entered three things into our Pet Day Competition they were a Scarecrow and a Soft Toy and a Vaseline Saucer.
I have included photos of the things that I entered and I loved having Pet Day at our school it was lot's of fun and I got to see all sorts of different animals too.
I won First place for my Scarecrow and I got a Highly Commended for my soft Toy.

Maths

This week I have been working on Algebra for maths and we were doing Patterns.  I have a photo showing all of the patterns that I made.  The next day we were having a go at making Sequential Patterns and I have a photo showing what I made here too.  I had lot's of fun with the hands on maths.

Cricket

This week we had visitors come to our school from Whangarei Cricket to teach us how to play the game.
When we had showed them that we could hit the ball properly we then played a game of speed cricket.
We learned how to hold the bat properly and how to stand in front of the wickets, when we hit the ball we had to run as fast as we can back to the others in the line and pass the bat to them so that they could have a go.

School Assembly

Last Friday was our school assembly.
I was asked about what I learned in our "Talk to Learn" programme, I used  my I pad to say that "I learned that caring for others helps me to make friends".

I was excited to be part of the whole school assembly and felt really proud of myself.

Solar System

This week we were having a discussion on the Solar System and the planets.

I made a really cool headband out of all of the planets.

I had lots of fun colouring in the planets and sticking them onto my headband.

Cross Country at Ohaeawai

Yesterday at school we had our yearly Cross Country day.
I ran as fast as I could go and then I walked with my mum,  I had lots of fun.

Dr Seuss Day

We had Dr Suess Day this week where we could wear something weird and wacky or a costume and we went on a parade around the community to show ourselves off.
After that we went into groups and did activities.
Here are some photos of what we did on the day, we made a  Dr Suess Street Sign for the library.

Science

This week we had a go at making Paper Helicopters.
We cut out our paper shapes of the helicopters and we bent down the two top pieces to make the rotor blades of a helicopter.
These are pictures of our group flying our helicopters.

We found out that both helicopters operated pretty much the same as one did not spin faster than the other and they both fell to the ground at about the same speed.
We loved watching these to see what would happen and we had lot's of fun doing it.

Handwriting Term 2

This is Ngarino's handwriting sample for Term 2.

Ngarino is doing very well with the formation of her letters.
she is working on keeping her letters on the lines.

Matariki Day

On Tuesday for Matariki Day we had a go at making Takakau bread.  When we cooked the bread we ate it with butter and jam, YUM!, we had a wonderful time working in our group.

Maths

Today I tried something new!
I was learning how to sequence numbers up to 20.  I did an awesome job.

Kiwi Chat Day

We went to Kerikeri to do some activities based on our Senses.  We made Scratch and Sniff names with glue and jelly crystals.

When they dried we can scratch them and smell the jelly flavour.

My flavour was orange.  Yummy!

My Maths

This week I had a go at making Repetitive Patterns and I made an amazing one out of coloured beads.

My Teachers were so proud of me.

Onesie Day at School

Today we had Onesie Day at school.
This is my Onesie that I chose to wear and it is a lovely black and white cow, it keeps me warm and I love the soft feel of it.

Ngarino and the Whiteboard Table

Ngarino loves to write her spelling words and words she knows on the whiteboard table.

A morning of learning.

Here is Ngarino reading the story "Baby Owl" to me. I love how she is pointing to the words as she reads. She now knows a number of basic words such as; the, I and to.

When I came into class this morning, Ngarino had already finished her word works and alphabet sheet and practised writing words on her whiteboard table.
