Hi today we have been learning how to use adjectives to describe a mood and atmosphere.

Our maths

Kia ora

We have been learning about how to use Compatible Numbers. Compatible Numbers are any two numbers which add together to make a Tidy Number 

(a  number which ends in zero).  We had to choose two Compatible Numbers and another number. Then we had to think of a word problem which used our numbers and give the problem to a buddy to solve. Mrs Ogle, our maths facilitator, said this is called 'posing problems'.

Aimee had 8 lollies, Jack had 2 lollies and Taylor had 5 lollies. How many altogther?

8+2=10

10+5= 15

Ski trip 2020

 

Last week Team Moana went on a ski trip. On Monday we went on the bus to National Park.

On Tuesday we went skiing on  mount Ruapehu in the happy valley and it was Pitata's birthday.

On Wednesday we went to the Army Museum and rock climbing.

On Thursday we went skiing again and good news, it was a sunny day at Mount Ruapehu. At the end we got a certificate and we said thank you to the adults.

On Friday we said thank you to the workers for taking care of us and making good food for us. We made our way back to school.

Measurement Maths

This week we have been working on Measurement.We had to measure our maths group foot and head.The day after we had to make a graph to see whose head was the biggest or we could chose to do our groups feet. I liked doing the head measurement the best .Here is my slide of my groups head and feet.

Mt Ruapehu in the sandpit

Kia ora Today we built Mt Ruapehu in the sandpit. We also made the Whangaehu River valley, the plain below the mountain and the railway bridge at Tangiwai. We wanted to learn how the lahar destroyed the bridge in 1953 causing the Tangiwai Disaster. Kora and Ariana poured lots of water into the crater we had made on top of our mountain. It whoosed down the side of the mountain and into the river valley. The bridge collapsed and bits of our train fell into the river. After that, we watched a short video about what do do if you are on Mt Ruapehu when the lahar siren sounds. Now I know how to keep safe from a lahar if one happens when I am on a mountain. Here is my Hazard Notice with the most important information.

We have been doing time tables and maths in class.

Whitebait Fritters

Hello everyone,
We read a book called Whitebait Fritters and we made some food called fake whitebait fritters.
We used three cups of potatoes and cut them into tiny pieces. We also added 3 eggs.

Lost Property Manager

Kia ora Ohaeawai School,
I do the lost property and I have to take all the lost hats back to the kids.
It is so messy. I have to look after it and keep it tidy.

All the children need to pick up all the clothes and hats.

Mail box maths.

Last week we went for a walk around Ohaeawai. We looked at numbers and counted lots of numbers and we put flyers into the mail boxes.
We used maths equations with the numbers that we saw on the mail boxes.
We walked around town and put flyers in the mail boxes. It was perfect, cool and awesome.

We have been learning about Earthquakes in class. Today I read a story about an earthquake.
